Fillmore Canyon Interpretative Hike
Saturday, June 8th
9:to 11 a.m.
First 15 to RSVP
Come join Bureau of Land Management Archaeologist, Garrett Leitermann, for a hike that will have you visiting the remains of an old mining town and mill at the mouth of Fillmore Canyon in Dripping Springs Natural Area. On this hike participants will learn about the rich history of the Organ Mountains, hear stories of the rich mines that once dotted the mountain’s slopes, and listen to tales of lost Spanish gold.
Those looking to participate in the hike should meet at the La Cueva Parking lot of Dripping Springs Natural Area at 9 a.m.
Dress appropriately for the hot weather and bring water, snacks, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and good hiking shoes. The hike will be approximately 2 hours and will stay on established natural trails.
Since a portion of this hike will be within the Organ Mountain Wilderness, the number of participants will be capped at 15. RSVP by emailing gleitermann@blm.gov“
