Welcome to Rio Grande Trails and Tales
Go on field trips to learn more about the rich history, technology (past and present), and cultures and traditions of our El Paso Southwest. You will climb to the tops of mountains, see inside abandoned mines and hunt for lost mines, hike up arroyos, visit historic sites and walk along the Rio Grande and the historic El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro.
All events are free except in the case of any national or state park fees. There are events for all ages and all abilities. Most of the events will give you plenty of outdoor recreation. All events will be fun.
Keep checking as we post new field trips on our event page. Get on our email list. And follow our blog.
Trails and Tales
“These tales [and trails] are not creations of mine. They belong to the soil and to the people of the soil. Like all things that belong, they have their roots deep in the place of their being, deep to in the past. They are an outgrowth; they embody the geniuses of divergent races and peoples who even while fiercely opposing each other blended their traditions.” – J. Frank Dobie, Coronado’s Children
