
Fillmore Canyon, Saturday January 24th

Join Garrett Leitermann of the Bureau of Land Management on an exploration of Fillmore Canyoun which is rich in mining and geological history on Saturday, January 24th beginning at 1 PM. Native Americans used this area for hunting and later Americans mined for silver and lead at the Modoc Mine. MC Logan ran this mine as well as the nearby Baylor Mine. Hear stories about hidden gold in the region. Fillmore Canyon has dazzling vistas making a fairly easy hike well worth taking. Meet at the La Cueva 1st parking lot at Dripping Springs. Directions: Take Interstate 10 from El Paso, merge onto Interstate 25. Then Exit 1 on Interstate 25, take University Avenue/Dripping Springs Road east to the end. Fees: Day use fee is $5 per passenger vehicle
